Thomas Harrell Jr., 85 years old of Decatur, Indiana, passed away at 4:30 a.m. on Monday, July 6, 2009 in the Woodcrest Nursing Center located in Decatur. Thomas was born on Friday, April 4, 1924 in Corydon, Indiana the son of the late Thomas Harrell Sr. and the late Nettie (Fulkerson) Harrell. He married the late Joan E. Beer on December 24, 1947 and she passed away on November 15, 2001. Thomas was a member of the Decatur Moose Lodge 1311 and the V.F.W. in Decatur, Indiana. Thomas served his country during World War II in the United States Army. Thomas retired in 1986 from Teeple Truck Line after 30 years of service. Surviving are his daughter, Millie (Dave) Lazzer of New Haven, Indiana, daughter, Jeanie K. Hummer of Indianapolis, Indiana, son, Delayne E. Harrell of Decatur, Indiana, and six grandchildren. Preceding Thomas in death were 8 brothers: Vernie, Carl, Howard, Ralph, James, Mavis, Eldon, and Wayne Harrell. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, July 8, 2009 in the Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home with Rev. Ernie Suman officiating. Interment will follow in the Decatur Cemetery. Military Graveside Honors will be conducted by American Legion Post #43 Color Guard of Adams County. Friends will be received from 12:00 NOON - 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, July 8, 2009 in the Zwick and Jahn Funeral Home, Decatur, Indiana. Preferred memorials are to Honor Flight of Northeast Indiana.
