Charles Herman Schlemmer, 75 years old of Ohio City, Ohio, passed away at 6:20 p.m. on Saturday, June 11, 2011 in the Bryan Care & Rehab Center located in Bryan, Ohio. Charles was born on Sunday, November 17, 1935 in Adams County, Indiana the son of the late Rudolph Schlemmer and the late Irene (Kohlmeier) Schlemmer. Charles was a member of the Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, Schumm in rural Willshire, Ohio. Charles was a veteran of the United States Army. Charles retired from International Harvester after 30 years of service where he worked in production. Surviving are his daughter, Rebecca (Timothy) Hunnicutt of Rockford, Ohio; son, David (Kate) Schlemmer of Marysville, Ohio; son, Tim (Stephanie) Schlemmer of Ohio City, Ohio; brother, Frederick "Fritz" (Janice) Schlemmer of Decatur, Indiana; sister, Annamarie (Bill) Smith of Decatur, Indiana; sister, Dorothy (Ted) Ruble of Decatur, Indiana; thirteen grandchildren: Brandy (Kevin) McDonald, Rachael (Daniel) Girard, Natasha Hunnicutt, Joseph Hunnicutt, Tessa Hunnicutt, Timothy Schlemmer, Adam Schlemmer, Phillip Schlemmer, Bethany Schlemmer, Benjamin Schlemmer, Aaron Schlemmer, Alexandrria Schlemmer, and Jacob Schlemmer; and four great-grandchildren: Lillian Mae McDonald, Samara McDonald, Russell McDonald, and Chloe Girard. Preceding Charles in death was one daughter, Marsha Schlemmer. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, June 18, 2011 in the Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, Schumm with Rev. Jeff Patterson officiating. Interment will follow in the Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church Cemetery, Schumm, Ohio. Friends will be received from 2-5 and 6-8 p.m. Friday, June 17, 2011 in the Zwick and Jahn Funeral Home, Decatur, Indiana and one hour prior to services Saturday at the church. Preferred memorials are to Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, Schumm.
