Clara Rosa Fox, 81 years old of Decatur, Indiana, passed away on Monday, October 12, 2009 in the Lutheran Hospital following a long illness with heart disease. She was born on Wednesday, August 22, 1928 in Adams County, Indiana the daughter of the late Alva Burger and the late Bertha (Welty) Burger. She married Gorman Fox on June 7, 1947. Clara was a member of the First Baptist Church for most of her life, where she was active in the Women's Missionary Society. She was also a contributor to a Children's Mission Fund. She was a homemaker and had worked at G.E. in Decatur for a short time and assisted her husband in the family businesses. Clara was a devoted wife, mother, & grandmother who loved crocheting, gardening & canning her home grown produce. Surviving are her husband, Gorman Fox of Decatur, daughter, Connie (Tom) Sheie of Ocean Isle Beach, North Carolina, daughter, Carolyn (Al) Whigham of Spiceland, Indiana, daughter, Cynthia "Cindy" (Steve) Lengerich of Decatur, son, Chester "Chet" (Susan "Sue") Fox of Decatur, daughter, Charlotte (Mike) Baker of Decatur, son, Clesson "Cless" (Teresa) Fox of Decatur, sister, Lucrecia (Harold) Minnich of Willshire, Ohio, sister, Annie Fleming of Decatur, brother, Robert (Betty) Burger of Decatur, thirteen grandchildren and nineteen great-grandchildren. Preceding Clara in death were one son, Dale Fox, seven brothers; William Frederick, Frank, Wayne, Harold, Theodore, Bryce & John Burger and six sisters; Norma Burger, Pearl Worthman, Francile Harvey, Ruth Suman, Marguarite Carpenter & Mary Shifferly. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, October 16, 2009 in the Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home with Pastor Whitney West officiating. Interment will follow in the M.R.E. Cemetery. Friends will be received from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Thursday, October 15, 2009 in the Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home, Decatur and one hour prior to the service on Friday in the funeral home. Preferred memorials are to First Baptist Church, Women Missionary Society of the Church, Adams County Heart Club or Child Evangelism Fellowship.
