Joan Catherine Davis, 80 years old of Decatur, Indiana, passed away at 11:35 p.m. on Sunday, August 7, 2011 in the Lutheran Hospital of Indiana located in Fort Wayne, Indiana. She was born on Sunday, May 3, 1931 in Cincinnati, Ohio the daughter of the late Joseph Dixon and the late Mary Krick. Joan was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church, Decatur; American Legion Post #43 Auxiliary; longtime volunteer for the Adams County Democratic Party where she was precinct committeewoman for many years; Daughters of the American Legion; volunteer at the Adams County Blood Bank and Adams County Food Bank. Joan was employed as a secretary for the City of Decatur serving under Mayor Hebble; formerly employed at Roman Meal and the Shaffer Company, both in Decatur. Surviving are her daughter, Denise Miller of Ft. Wayne, Indiana; son, Duane Davis of Decatur, Indiana, six grandchildren: Amy Davis, Mandy Davis, Aaron Davis, Emil Miller, Drew Miller, and Monet Botello; and eight great-grandchildren. Preceding Joan in death were one sister, Betty Steele and one brother, Bill Dixon. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, August 13, 2011 in the Zion Lutheran Church, Decatur with Rev. Phil Phifer officiating. Friends will be received from 2-5 and 6-8 p.m. Friday, August 12, 2011 in the Zwick and Jahn Funeral Home, Decatur, Indiana and one hour prior to the service at the church on Saturday. Preferred memorials are to Zion Lutheran Church, Decatur; or Adams County Council on Aging.
