Mabel L. Ball, 88 years old of Monroeville, Indiana, passed away at 1:25 p.m. on Friday, January 22, 2010 in the Community Health Professionals Hospice located in Van Wert, Ohio. Mabel was born on Tuesday, August 16, 1921 in Dixon, Ohio the daughter of the late Howard O. Carrier and the late Beulah (Gilbert) Carrier. She married the late Ray E. "Daddy" Ball on June 30, 1945 in Monroeville, Indiana and he passed away on March 25, 1995. Mabel was a member of the Monroeville United Methodist Church. She was a graduate of Convoy High School in Convoy, Ohio. Mabel was a homemaker. Surviving are her daughter, Jean C. (Jim) Patterson of Monroeville, Indiana; son, Dale (Sheryl) Ball of Convoy, Ohio; sister, Doris Meyer of Columbia City, Indiana; four grandchildren: Erica & David Ball; Burt & Brad Patterson; and three great-grandchildren: Gavin and Brooklyn Burkhalter; and Ashlin Patterson. Preceding Mabel in death were one brother, Burton Carrier; one sister, Betty Ball; and two infant brothers. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, January 26, 2010 in the Monroeville United Methodist Church with Pastor Denise Lapsley officiating. Interment will follow in the Monroeville Memorial Cemetery. Friends will be received from 2-8 p.m. Monday, January 25, 2010 in the Zwick and Jahn Funeral Home, Jacobs Chapel, Monroeville, Indiana and one hour prior to the service at the church on Tuesday. Preferred memorials are to Monroeville United Methodist Church.
