Charlotte E Vera [October 1, 1910 - April 6, 2012] Born to Walter L. and Lulu [Triplett] Vera in Dunkirk, IN. Predeceasing were her parents, sisters Helen [Vera] Merry and Edna Delorian Vera, nephew, Earl W. Merry and niece, Ada C. [Merry] Miller. Surviving are great nieces, Merry Miller, Michele [Miller] Jump, Cathleen [Miller] Sparks, Madeline Merry, Laurel [Merry] Sweeney... and nephew, Andrew Merry and great-great nieces and nephews and great-great-great nieces and nephews. Born in Dunkirk, IN and graduated from Dunkirk High School in 1928. She attended Western College near Oxford, Ohio, where she prepared for teaching. She taught in the Dunkirk schools for several years, after World War II she attended Indiana University and worked for Dr. B.F. Skinner. She returned to teaching at Milan, IN, then moved to Decatur in 1949. A member of Decatur First Presbyterian Church, Decatur Women's Club, Research Club, Order of the Eastern Star #127 and Alpha Omicron Pi. Retiring from teaching in 1975, Charlotte taught English, Latin, and French at Decatur High School and Bellmont High School. She was a Class Sponsor, Latin Club, and French Club sponsor. Prior to retirement, she travelled to France, Switzerland, Greece and Italy. Upon retirement, she continued to travel and visit family and friends overseas in France, England and Scotland. Among her many friends and neighbors, Heidi Trentadue and her family stand out as special for their years of friendship and love. The family wishes to thank the staff of Woodcrest for their wonderful care. Memorial contributions may be made to: Decatur First Presbyterian Church,or Adams County Community Foundation Scholarship Fund. A memorial service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, June 23, 2012 in the Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home, Decatur with Pastor Marcia Kline officiating. Visitation will be held for one hour prior to the service at the funeral home.
