Ruth Louise Schamerloh, 85 years old, of Decatur, Indiana, went to be with the Lord at 1:40 p.m. on Monday, October 5, 2009, after a brief hospitalization at Lutheran Hospital in Fort Wayne, Indiana. Ruth was born to the late Gustav and Mathilde (Fackler) Schueler on Wednesday, March 19, 1924, in Adams County, Indiana. She married Fredrick W. Schamerloh on October 23, 1948, in St. Paul Lutheran Church, Preble. He preceded her in death on January 25, 1992. Ruth was a very active member of the Immanuel Lutheran Church in rural Decatur, Indiana, where she was a member of the Ladies Aid Society and the church choir for over 45 years. She also sang with the Lutheran Circuit Choir and volunteered at Woodcrest Nursing Center. Ruth was a graduate of International Business College and worked at Central Soya in Fort Wayne for three years. She was a homemaker and a loving mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. She enjoyed flowers and working in her garden. Surviving are her son, Dr. Kerry A. (Carol) Schamerloh of Bluffton, Indiana; daughter, Janice J.(Joseph) Heimann of Carmel, Indiana; son, Kim J. (Roz) Schamerloh of Decatur, Indiana; son, Dr. Richard J. (Sara) Schamerloh of Ft. Wayne, Indiana; sister, Lorien Cress of Decatur, Indiana; brother, Halden F. Schueler of Convoy, Ohio; brother, Kenneth L. (Marlene) Schueler of Decatur, Indiana; eight grandchildren and seven and a half great-grandchildren. Preceding Ruth in death were one sister, Mardella P. Reinhart and one brother, Paul M. Schueler. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, October 9, 2009, in the Immanuel Lutheran Church with Pastor David Koeneman officiating. Interment will follow in the Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery. Friends and family will be received from 1-4 and 5-8 p.m. Thursday, October 8, 2009, in the Zwick and Jahn Funeral Home, Decatur, Indiana and one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday. Preferred memorials are to the Immanuel Lutheran Church general fund, Immanuel Lutheran building fund, or the St. Peter-Immanuel School.
