Patricia Ann Steury, 80, died at home in Decatur on Friday, June 26, 2009. She was born in Fort Wayne, Indiana, the daughter of Henry and Stella Mahlan. She attended St. Pauls Lutheran School and graduated from Hoagland High School as valedictorian in 1947. She was a member of Antioch Lutheran Church in Hoagland Indiana. Pat retired from Decatur Industries in Decatur, Indiana in 1982. Pat lived in Lake Worth, Florida for over twenty years. She retired from The Ark Restaurant in Lantana, Florida in 1998. She is survived by her husband, Norman Steury; daughter, Barbara (John) Kowalczyk of Fort Wayne, Indiana; son, Richard Steury of Decatur, Indiana; grandchildren, Nick Steury of Decatur, Indiana, Hannah Kowalczyk of Chicago, Illinois and Martha Kowalczyk of New York, New York; her brother, John Mahlan of Decatur, Indiana; her sister, Sue Grotrian of Fort Wayne. She was preceded in death by her parents, Henry and Stella Mahlan and her granddaughter, Sarah Steury. A memorial service is at 11 am on Tuesday at Zwick and Jahn Funeral Home in Decatur, Indiana. The family will receive friends and family from 10 AM to 11 AM at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, preferred memorials are to The Sarah Steury Scholarship Fund, Family Hospice and Palliative Care, and Antioch Lutheran Church.
