Carl R. Copper, 78 years old of Monroeville, Indiana, passed away on Tuesday, October 19, 2010 in Parkview Hospital, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on Thursday, December 3, 1931 in Van Wert, Ohio the son of the late Clarence E. Copper and the late Charlotte (Poling) Copper. He married Patricia L. Copper on October 3, 1950 in Jeffersonville, Indiana. Carl was a member of St. Mark's Lutheran Church in Monroeville where he served as past president of the church council & trustee of the building committee and was a former choir member. He was a member of the Masonic Lodge #293 in New Haven where he served as past Master, the Mizpah Shrine in Fort Wayne and the Scottish Rite in Fort Wayne. He was a 1950 graduate of Convoy High School and a graduate of Hobart School of Welding in Troy, Ohio. He enjoyed raising & showing llamas and was a woodcrafter. Carl retired in March of 1992 as a production superintendent with Aeroquip Corporation in Van Wert, Ohio after thirty-nine years of service. He was also a retired farmer and former clerk at M&E Deli in Monroeville. Surviving are his wife, Patricia L. Copper of Monroeville, daughter, Monica L. (Donald) Scott of Monroeville, son, Randy A. (Denise) Copper of Ossian, son, Ricky L. Copper of Monroeville, daughter, Carla J. (James) Thompson of Abilene, Texas, son, Martin E. Copper of Fort Wayne, foster daughter, Carmen A. Pendleton of West Berlin, New Jersey, sixteen grandchildren and eighteen great-grandchildren, and his little dog, "Kandi" also survives. Preceding Carl in death were two brothers; Wilbert & Donald Copper, four sisters; Lillian Miller, Leona Fern Hammons, Naomi P. Copper (infant)& Dorothy Keathley and two great-grandchildren; Connor & Caleb Sarazen (infants). Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, October 24, 2010 in the St. Mark's Lutheran Church with Rev. William Smith officiating. Interment will follow in the Monroeville Memorial Cemetery. Friends will be received from 1-4 & 6-8 p.m., Saturday, October 23 in the Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home, Jacobs Chapel, Monroeville and from 1:00 p.m. to service time in the church on Sunday. Preferred memorials are to St. Mark's Lutheran Preschool or Monroeville EMS.
