Howard D. Kryder, 84 years old of Monroeville, Indiana, passed away at 10:25 p.m. on Sunday, April 20, 2008 in the Village of Heritage located in Monroeville, Indiana. Howard was born on Thursday, February 28, 1924 in Cederville, Indiana the son of the late Fred W. Kryder and the late Bessie (Blume) Kryder. He married the late Wyona Jeanne Kryder on August 1, 1944 in Leo, Indiana and she passed away on November 5, 2003. Howard served in the United States Army during World War II in the South Pacific Theater of Operations. Howard attended East Liberty United Methodist Church of rural Monroeville, Indiana; American Legion Post #420 in Monroeville, Indiana; and the U.A.W. Local #57 in Ft. Wayne, Indiana. Howard retired on July 15, 1983 from the International Harvester Company with 27 years of service. Howard enjoyed playing Euchre, golf, and was an avid I U fan. Surviving are his son, Roger D. (Marge) Kryder of Syracuse, Indiana, son, Michael "Mick" (Cheryl) Kryder of Decatur, Indiana, daughter, Linda K. Kerr and her late husband, Thomas Kerr of Greenwood, Indiana, sister, Betty L. (Edwin) Zimmerman of Grabill, Indiana, nine grandchildren, and sixteen great-grandchildren. Preceding Howard in death were five brothers, Walter, Russell, Albert, Robert and Fred Kryder; two sisters, Dorothy Trammel and Hazel Gerardot; and one son-in-law, Thomas Kerr. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, April 24, 2008 in the Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home, Jacobs Chapel, Monroeville, Indiana, with Pastor Harlen Steffen and Pastor Barry McCune officiating. Interment will follow in the Leo Cemetery located in Leo, Indiana. Military Graveside Services will be conducted by American Legion Post #420 of Monroeville, Indiana. Friends will be received from 2-4 and 5-8 p.m. Wednesday, April 23, 2008 in the Zwick and Jahn Funeral Home, Jacobs Chapel, Monroeville, Indiana. Preferred memorials are to the Village of Heritage or Heartland Hospice.
