Catherine M. Hockemeyer, 85 years old of Monroeville, Indiana, passed away at 7:05 p.m. on Thursday, March 4, 2010 in the Parkview Hospital located in Fort Wayne, Indiana. Catherine was born on Thursday, February 5, 1925 in Allen County, Indiana the daughter of the late Amos B. Springer and the late Ellanora M. (Dettmer) Springer. She married Edward Hockemeyer on September 17, 1944 and he survives. Catherine was a member of St. John Lutheran Church, Flatrock in rural Monroeville, Indiana and was also a homemaker. Surviving are her husband, Edward Hockemeyer of Monroeville, Indiana; daughter, Sharon A. (David) Schlaudroff of Hoagland, Indiana; son, Duane E. (Verna) Hockemeyer of Monroeville, Indiana; son, Robert A. (Julie) Hockemeyer of Monroeville, Indiana; son, Carl L. (Diane) Hockemeyer of Wolcottville, Indiana; sister, Lucille Thiele of Ossian, Indiana; twelve grandchildren: Amy Arnett, Joy Selking, Dean Schlaudroff, Leslie Leitch, Kelly Shelburne, Joni Boyle, James Hockemeyer, Heidi Sims, Andrew Hockemeyer, Rachel Hockemeyer, Sarah Noble, and Adams Hockemeyer; nineteen great-grandchildren: Alexis Arnett, Jazmyn Arnett, Kayla Selking, Alyssa Selking, Emily Selking, Evan Selking, Owen Schlaudroff, Ellie Schlaudroff, Nicole Rothgeb, Lauren Rothgeb, Carson Rothgeb, Grace Shelburne, Taylor Shelburne, Brooke Shelburne, Brandon Boyle, Brady Boyle, JoLynn Hockemeyer, Jara Hockemeyer, Ella Hockemeyer; and one step-great-granddaughter, Megan Eddy. Preceding Catherine in death were one brother, Gottlieb Springer; and one sister, Anita Thiele. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, March 8, 2010 in the St. John Lutheran Church, Flatrock with Rev. Douglas Christian officiating. Interment will follow in the St John Lutheran Cemetery, Flatrock. Friends will be received from 12:00 NOON until 5:00 p.m. Sunday, March 7, 2010 in the St. John Lutheran Church, Flatrock Fellowship Center and on hour prior to services on Monday also at the church. Preferred memorials are to St. John Lutheran Church, Flatrock or the donor's choice.
