Violet Elaine Peterson

Our beloved wife and mother, Violet Elaine Peterson, 79, passed away peacefully on Friday, July 25, 2008, while in the compassionate care of the staff of Good Shepherd Home and Hospice, Kendallville, Indiana. Elaine , as she was known by family and friends is survived by her husband, Charles Peterson of Rome City, IN. They had been married and best friends for 60 years. Elaine was born at home in Geneva, Indiana to John and Laura Boice, sharing happy times with four sisters and one brother. She is survived by Evaleen Walker of Anderson, In, Mary Ellen Hampshire of Columbia City, In, Dorothy Palmieri of New Haven, CT and Joyce Caetta of Akron, OH. A brother, George Boice, and a granddaughter Lisa Peterson are deceased. Charles and Elaine lived in Decatur Indiana, Ft. Wayne, Indiana and spent many joyous days on their farm in Hoagland, Indiana. They retired to Latta Lake, Rome City, IN and later moved to Berne, IN. Elaine was a housewife and operated a beauty salon in Hoagland, Indiana for many years. She hated her first name, Violet , but loved flowers and always had a large garden. Elaines life and accomplishments were devoted to her family and she left a legacy of generosity, respect and love. Elaine is survived by two sons; John & Linda of Ozona, Florida, Chuck & Susan of Ft. Wayne, IN and a daughter, Dee Ann Peterson of Holland, Michigan, six grandchildren and one great grandchild. Friends will be received from 3-5 & 6-8 p.m. Tuesday at the Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home, Decatur. Funeral Services will be held on Wednesday at 11:00 a.m. at the Funeral Home. Burial will be in the MRE Cemetery, Berne. Preferred memorials are to the First Church of the Nazarene, in Berne.
