Gilbert O. "Gillie" Hoffman, 89 years old of Hoagland, Indiana, passed away at 8:45 a.m. on Thursday, November 18, 2010 at his residence. Gillie was born on Sunday, December 26, 1920 in Adams County, Indiana the son of the late Victor Hoffman and the late Pauline (Bieberich) Hoffman. He married Florence L. Aumann on June 17, 1945 in the St. John Lutheran Church, Bingen. Gillie was a member of the St. John Lutheran Church, Bingen and the Sons of the American Legion Post #43. He was also a life member of the Wire Association International. Gillie was involved in the Wire Drawing Die Industry for 68 years; including Hoosier and Heritage Wire Die, along with others. He also enjoyed farming for 59 years. Surviving are his wife, Florence L. Hoffman of Hoagland, daughter, Annette D. Ray of Decatur, son, Richard D. (Rhonda) Hoffman of Monroeville, son, Chris D. (Tammy) Hoffman of Monroeville, brother, Irvin (Carolyn) Hoffman of Monroeville, seven grandchildren, six step-grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, eleven step-great-grandchildren, and three step-great-great-grandchildren. Preceding Gilbert in death were two sisters, Florence Sebesta and Marcella Kukelhan; one brother, Eugene Hoffman; and one son-in-law, Richard Ray. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, November 22, 2010 in the St. John Lutheran Church, Bingen with Rev. Peter Brock officiating. Interment will follow in the St. John Lutheran Cemetery, Bingen. Indiana. Friends will be received from 11a.m. - 3 p.m. and 4-6 p.m. Sunday, November 21, 2010 in the Zwick and Jahn Funeral Home, Decatur, Indiana and one hour prior to the service at the church on Monday. Preferred memorials are to St. John Lutheran Church Organ Fund, Parkview Home Health & Hospice or Worship For Shut Ins.
