Melba Rusher, 86 years old of Berne, Indiana, passed away at 2:50 p.m. on Monday, April 24, 2006 in the Adams Memorial Hospital located in Decatur, Indiana. Melba was born on July 10, 1919 in Huntington, Indiana, the daughter of the late Jesse Robbins and the late Goldie (Webb) Robbins. She married the late Rev. Leroy Rusher on March 17, 1940 in Fort Wayne, Indiana and he passed away on April 11, 1977. Melba was a longtime active member of the Spring Hill Missionary Church, rural Berne, Indiana. She was a homemaker and assisted her husband in ministry for 26 years. Surviving are her daughter, Mrs. Ron (Rebecca) Reynolds of Grand Rapids, Michigan, daughter, Mrs. Kendall (Deborah) Lehman of Berne, Indiana, five grandchildren: Amy (Chris) Lautenbach, Robert (Kalie) Reynolds, Joshua Lehman, Andrew Lehman, and Benjamin Lehman and one great-grandchild: Jayden Reynolds. Melba was preceded in death by four brothers, Gerald, Charles, George, and Jack Robbins. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, April 28, 2006 in the Spring Hill Missionary Church with Pastor Gene Willson and Pastor Jim Robbins officiating. Interment will follow in the Spring Hill/Backesto Cemetery. Friends will be received from 5-9 p.m. Thursday, April 27, 2006 in the Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home, Decatur, Indiana and one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday. Preferred memorials are to the Biblical Learning Center-dedicated to making the scriptures clear. This is a Christian Ministry founded by Ron Reynolds, son-in-law of Melba.
