Marcella Marie Deam, 95 years old of Decatur, Indiana, passed away at 8:00 p.m. on Monday, July 26, 2010 in the Lutheran Hospital of Indiana located in Fort Wayne, Indiana. Marcella was born on Sunday, August 23, 1914 in Madison, Wisconsin the daughter of the late Charles F. McKown and the late Francis M. (Sachs) McKown. She married the late Ralph V. Deam on September 16, 1933 in Ft. Wayne, Indiana and he passed away on January 25, 1965. Marcella was a longtime active member of the Hope United Methodist Church in Hoagland, Indiana where she taught Sunday School for several years. She graduated from Northside High School in Ft. Wayne, Indiana. She enjoyed history, fishing, gardening, an avid reader, and wonderful cook. Marcella s was a homemaker and had been employed by the Happy Humpty and Revco Drugstore. Surviving are her daughter, Bonnie (Dean) Ruhl of Star City, Indiana; daughter, Betty (Alfred) Bowser of Ft. Wayne, Indiana; daughter, Linda (Sandie) Knittle of Decatur, Indiana; daughter, Margie (James) Edwards of Decatur, Indiana; sister, Betty Godschalk of Ft. Wayne, Indiana; sister, Nellie Clark of Enid, Oklahoma; sister, Helen (Norman) Dugas of Merritt Island, Florida; eleven grandchildren, twenty-two great-grandchildren, seven great-great-grandchildren, and three step-great-grandchildren. Preceding Marcella in death were two sisters, Norma Mahan and Jean Whitehurst. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, July 30, 2010 in the Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home with the Rev. Stacy Downing officiating. Interment will follow in the Lindenwood Cemetery, Fort Wayne, Indiana. Friends will be received from 2-5 and 6-8 p.m. Thursday, July 29, 2010 in the Zwick and Jahn Funeral Home, Decatur, Indiana. Preferred memorials are to Hope United Methodist Church in Hoagland, Indiana.
