Helen F. Beery, 89 years old of Decatur, Indiana, passed away at 4:45 p.m. on Wednesday, March 7, 2007 in the Woodcrest Nursing Center located in Decatur, Indiana. Helen was born on April 9, 1917 in Adams County, Indiana, the daughter of the late Otto Hildebrand and the late Flora (Bracht). She married the late Robert V. Beery on January 1, 1936 in Adams County, Indiana, and he passed away on October 15, 2006. Helen attended Faith Fellowship Church in Tocsin, Indiana. Helen was a previous member of the Salem United Church of Christ in Magley, Indiana; a charter member of the Sunbeam Garden Club; taught Sunday School in the children's department; and was active in Child Evangelism Fellowship for several years. Helen was a graduate of Kirkland High School Class of 1934. Helen was a longtime supporter of Habitat For Humanity. She modeled environmental stewardship for many years by recycling. Helen was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother, who made homemaking an art. Surviving are her son, David A. (Ingrid) Beery of Bloomington, Indiana, daughter, Mrs. Larry (Dorene) Rodocker of Carmel By The Sea, California, daughter, Mrs. Ron (Ruth Ann) Harris of Anderson, Indiana, daughter, Mrs. Robert (Susan) Stewart of Indianapolis, Indiana, sister, Mrs. Marie Grether of Loveland, Colorado, brother, Carl Hildebrand of Decatur, Indiana, eleven grandchildren, fifteen great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews. Preceding Helen in death were one sister, Irene Peck; and one brother, Walter Hildebrand. Funeral services will be held at 4:00 p.m. Saturday, March 10, 2007 in the Woodcrest Chapel, 1300 Mercer Ave. Decatur, Indiana, with Chaplain John Follett officiating. Interment will follow in the Salem U.C.C. Cemetery, Magley, Indiana. Food and fellowship will follow the services at the Woodcrest dining room. Friends will be received from 1:00 - 4:00 p.m. Saturday, March 10, 2007 in the Woodcrest Chapel, 1300 Mercer Ave. Decatur, Indiana. Preferred memorials are to the Fort Wayne Rescue Mission.
