Blanche E. Barr, 87 years old of Decatur, Indiana, passed away at 2:12 p.m. on July 4, 2007 in the Village of Heritage located in Monroeville, Indiana. Blanche was born on February 17, 1920 in Horatio, Arkansas the daughter of the late Joseph Johnston and the late Nora (Wimberly) Johnston. She married the late Willard Barr on August 27, 1939 in Mena, Arkansas and he passed away in April 1986. Blanche was a member of the Decatur Church of Christ; the Eagles Lodge in Decatur, Indiana; and a former member of the First Christian Church in Murfreesboro, Arkansas. Blanche enjoyed quilting, various needlework, and gardening. Blanche retired in 1982 from Dolco Packaging in Decatur, Indiana. Surviving are her daughter, Mrs. Walter (Ruth) Lee of Decatur, Indiana, sister, Hazel Whiteside of Roseville, California, three grandchildren: Tim (Linda) Vergara, Melanie (Mike) Whitesell, Steve Vergara; two step-grandchildren: Steve (Stacey) Lee, Christa (Steve) Kaehr; six great-grandchildren, seven step-great-grandchildren, seven great-great-grandchildren, and one step-great-great-grandchild. Preceding Blanche in death were three brothers, and two sisters and one daughter. Funeral services will be held at 7:00 p.m. Saturday, July 7, 2007 in the Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home with the Pastor Michael Rich officiating. Graveside Services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Thursday, July 12, 2007 at the Concord Cemetery in Ink, Arkansas. Friends will be received from 4:00 - 6:00 p.m. Saturday, July 7, 2007 in the Zwick and Jahn Funeral Home, Decatur, Indiana. Preferred memorials are to Decatur Church of Christ or the Adams County Community Foundation-Cancer Fund or the Adams County Home Health.
