Vilas Eugene "Gene" Luginbill, 82 years old of Willshire, Ohio, passed away at 6:58 a.m. on Friday, July 10, 2009 at his residence following an extended illness. Gene was born on Sunday, July 11, 1926 in Adams County, Indiana the son of the late Vilas Luginbill and the late Ruth (Parr) Luginbill. He married Norma Lee Smith on October 22, 1950 in Chattanooga, Ohio and she survives. Gene served in the United States Army during WWII in the Pacific. Gene faithfully attended Willshire-Union United Methodist Church in rural Willshire, Ohio. He was a member of American Legion Post #207 in Willshire, Ohio. Gene retired from Lehman Feed Mill in 2000 after 31 years of service. He had also worked for Ernest E.T. Schwartz Construction, and was a lifelong farmer. Surviving are his wife, Norma Lee Luginbill of Willshire, Ohio; daughter, Jane M. (Phillip) Miller of Mendon, Ohio; daughter, Deanna F. (Steven) Lugabihl of Willshire, Ohio; son, Roger E. Luginbill of Willshire, Ohio; daughter, Michelle R. Sill of Willshire, Ohio; sister, Alice Sirk of Ft. Wayne, Indiana; sister, Kate (Clarence) Hamrick of Willshire, Ohio; sister, Marilyn (Gary) Simons of Decatur, Indiana; sister-in-law, Patricia Luginbill of Decatur, Indiana; eight grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren. Preceding Gene in death was one brother, Robert L. Luginbill. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Monday, July 13, 2009 in the Willshire- Union United Methodist Church with Pastor Phillip Miller and Pastor Richard Larimore officiating. Interment will follow in the Willshire Cemetery, Willshire, Ohio. Friends will be received from 12:00 NOON - 3:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. Sunday, July 12, 2009 in the Zwick and Jahn Funeral Home, Decatur, Indiana and one hour prior to the service at the church on Monday. Preferred memorials are to Van Wert Hospice.
