Bonnie C. Herman, 62 years old of Decatur, Indiana, passed away at 10:40 a.m. on Friday, November 11, 2011 at her residence. Bonnie was born on Tuesday, September 13, 1949 in Decatur, Indiana the daughter of the late Earl M. Caston and the late Alta May (Ruhl) Caston. She married DuWayne Herman on September 15, 1979 in Zion Lutheran Church - Decatur and he survives. Bonnie was an active member of the Zion Lutheran Church - Decatur; serving on many committees, and especially loved singing in the Zion Choir. Bonnie was the Marketing Assistant for Family LifeCare-Berne, formerly Family Hospice of Northeast Indiana. Bonnie had formerly served Hospice as a Social Worker. Surviving are her husband, DuWayne Herman of Decatur, IN; daughter, Katie Herman of Indianapolis, IN; daughter, Jessica Herman of Indianapolis, IN; son, Nathan Herman of Decatur, IN; brother, David (Bonnie) Caston of Decatur, IN; sister, Claudia Schnepf of Ft. Wayne, IN; sister, Marian (George) Elliot of Cicero, IN; sister, Sheila (John) August of Decatur, IN; sister, Deborah (Greg) Cook of Decatur, IN; sister, Karen (Kirk) Shallcross of Wheaton, IL. Preceding Bonnie in death was one brother, Calvin Caston on June 2, 2004. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, November 18, 2011 in the Zion Lutheran Church with Rev. Phil Phifer officiating. Interment will follow in the Decatur Cemetery. Friends will be received from 1-4 and 5-8 p.m. Thursday, November 17, 2011 in the Zwick and Jahn Funeral Home, Decatur and one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday. Preferred memorials are to Family LifeCare -Berne; Smile Train Organization; or Zion Lutheran Church-Decatur.
