Margaret Scherer

Margaret Louise Scherer, 87 years old of Decatur, Indiana, passed away on Wednesday, January 5, 2011 in the Village of Heritage. She was born on Wednesday, June 13, 1923 in Allen County, Indiana the daughter of the late Charles F. Schroeder and the late Caroline (Droege) Schroeder. She married Wilfred C. Scherer on April 25, 1942 in St. John Lutheran Church, Bingen and he passed away on June 2, 1992. Margaret was a member of the St. John Lutheran Church, Bingen and was a homemaker. Surviving are her son, Kenneth Scherer of Fort Wayne, daughter, Linda (James) Nord of Fort Wayne, daughter, Louann (David) Augustyniak of Decatur, sister, Gertrude Dettmer of Fort Wayne, nine grandchildren; Rhonda Stout, Carrie Jones, Jennifer Scherer, Justin Scherer, Emily Hissong, Chris Nord, Joshua Augustyniak, Corey Augustyniak & Mandy Augustyniak and eleven great-grandchildren; Connor Stout, Jenna Stout, Jayden Stout, Emma Jones, Elise Hissong, Tyler Augustyniak, Tasha Augustyniak, Jailen Augustyniak, Julianna Augustyniak, Krissy Mendez & Jesse Schnepp. Preceding Margaret in death were one daughter, Lois Colone; one son, Gene Alan Scherer; 3 brothers, Herbert, Lawrence & Paul Schroeder and three sisters, Helen Conrad, Alvina Fuelling and Olga Scherer. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, January 9, 2011 in the St. John Lutheran Church, Bingen with Pastor Peter Brock officiating. Interment will follow in the St. John Lutheran Cemetery. Friends will be received from 2-5 p.m. & 6-8 p.m., Saturday, January 8 in the Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home, Decatur and one hour prior to the service at the church on Sunday. Preferred memorials are to St. John Luthean Church, Bingen or Worship For Shut Ins. The family of Margaret Scherer is so very grateful for the compassionate care provided by the staff of The Village of Heritage Nursing Home in Monroeville. Margaret was always treated with love, dignity, and respect.
