Donald J. Dick, 76 years old of Rockford, Ohio, and a former lifelong resident of rural Decatur, passed away on Friday, October 7, 2011 in the Laurels of Shane Hill. He was born on Thursday, August 1, 1935 in Adams County, Indiana the son of the late Albert Dick and the late Virgil L. (Andrews) Dick. He married Mary M. Thatcher on February 16, 1957 in Willshire, Ohio. Donald was a member of St. Luke Church in rural Decatur where he served as a deacon and usher. He was a graduate of Adams Central High School and retired from International Harvester (Navistar) after thirty years. He also farmed for years in St. Mary's Township. Surviving are his wife, Mary M. Dick of Celina, Ohio; daughter, Kim (Dave) Robbins of Celina, Ohio; daughter, Sheri (Bob) Keck of Fishers, Indiana; son, Matthew (Rachael) Dick of Crown Point, Indiana; daughter, Amy Webb of Noblesville, Indiana, daughter, Dawn (A.J.) Voiles of Franklin, Indiana; sister, Alice Liechty of Berne, Indiana; sister, Doris (Loren) Sprunger of Berne, Indiana; brother, Robert (Carol) Dick of Fort Wayne, Indiana; brother, Herman (Ardella) Dick of Langhorne, Pennslyvania; brother, Harold (Elaine) Dick of Albany, Indiana; sister, Mary (Jerry) Bean of Indianapolis, Indiana; brother, Roger (Arlene) Dick of Cary, North Carolina. He is also survived by fourteen grandchildren; Stephanie (David) Moorman, Elizabeth Robbins, Craig Robbins, Pam Keck, Sarah Keck, Adam Keck, Megan Dick, Nathan Dick, Emily Dick, Rachel Dick, Jacob Webb, Sophia Voiles, Mia Voiles & Luke Voiles and one great-granddaughter, Holly Moorman. Preceding Donald in death were one son, Scott A. Dick; two sisters, Violet Beck & Esther Dick; and one brother Ed Dick. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, October 11, 2011 in the St. Luke Church with Pastor Mike Wertenberger officiating. Interment will follow in the St. Luke Church Cemetery. Friends will be received from 2-4 and 5-8 p.m., Monday, October 10 in the Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home, Decatur and one hour prior to the service at the church on Tuesday. Preferred memorials are to St. Luke Church or the Adams County Community Foundation - Alzheimer's Fund or the Adams Central Scholarship Fund.
