Leona M. Reinking, 86 years old of Decatur, Indiana, passed away on Thursday, February 18, 2010 in the Woodcrest Nursing Center. She was born on Monday, December 17, 1923 in Adams County, Indiana the daughter of the late Otto Wefel and the late Emilie (Ewell) Wefel. Leona married Carl Schamerloh and he was killed in action during World War II in Southern France. She later married Edwin H. Reinking on March 2, 1946 and he passed away on December 12, 2000. Leona was a member of the St. Paul Lutheran Church, Preble where she was a longtime member of the Ladies Aid, a member of the church choir and the Lutheran Chorale Circuit Choir, and was a longtime Sunday School Teacher. She was also in the Lutheran Women's Missionary League (LWML), a member of the Concordia Seminary Guild in Fort Wayne and active in the Root Township Home Ec. Club. Leona was homemaker and was employed at the Holthouse Drug Store for many years. She was also a familiar presence at the Cross Creek Golf Course in Decatur for many years. Surviving are her son, Dennis L. Reinking of Decatur, son, James A. (Melissa) Reinking of Bluffton, daughter, Connie J. (Steve) Kreigh of Decatur, daughter, Marilyn A. (Delin) Franke of Ossian, foster son, Randy (Donna) Wefel of Decatur, fifteen grandchildren and fifteen great-grandchildren. Preceding Leona in death were one sister, Norma Thieme and one brother, Don Wefel. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Monday, February 22, 2010 in the St. Paul Lutheran Church, Preble with Rev. Daniel J. Brege officiating. Interment will follow in the St Paul Lutheran Church Cemetery. Friends will be received from noon to 6:00 p.m., Sunday, February 21 in the Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home, Decatur and one hour prior to the service at the church on Monday. Preferred memorials are to St. Paul Lutheran Church, Preble, Worship For Shut-Ins or Wyneken Lutheran School.
