Eldora L. Scheumann, 87 years old of rural Decatur, Indiana, passed away at 4:45 a.m. on Sunday, January 11, 2009 at her residence. Eldora was born on Thursday, August 25, 1921 in Wells County, Indiana the daughter of the late William F. Meyer and the late Emma (Witte) Meyer. She married Richard H. Scheumann on September 7, 1946 in Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Ossian, Indiana and he survives. Eldora was a member of the Zion Lutheran Church, Friedheim; a 50 year member of the Sunny Circle Home Demonstration Club of Preble Township; and a past member of the American Legion Auxiliary Post #43 in Decatur. Eldora was a homemaker. Surviving are her husband, Richard H. Scheumann of Decatur, Indiana, daughter, Shirley (Donald) Gehres of Decatur, Indiana, son, Don A. (Dee) Scheumann of Carthage, Indiana, daughter, Judy (Jerry) Ulman of Raleigh, North Carolina, daughter, Karen (John) Hall of Ft. Wayne, Indiana, ten grandchildren: Jodi Svoboda, Todd Gehres, Scott Gehres, Joseph Scheumann, Eric Scheumann, Lindsay McIntosh, Matthew Ulman, Christie Ulman, Michael Hall, and Allison Hall; plus eleven great-grandchildren: Alexander Svoboda, Zachary Svoboda, Elliot Gehres, Oliver Gehres, Heather Eichhorn, Abigail Gehres, Emma Gehres, Dylan Scheumann, Devon Scheumann, Sonya Ulman and Margaret Ulman. Preceding Eldora in death were one sister, Aldine Conrad and one brother, Albert Meyer. A 10:15 a.m. Prayer Service will be held Friday, January 16, 2009 in the Zwick and Jahn Funeral Home, Decatur, Indiana followed by an 11:00 a.m. Funeral Service in the Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, Friedheim with Rev. Daniel Dahling officiating. Interment will follow in the Zion Lutheran Cemetery, Friedheim. Friends will be received from 2-5 and 6-8 p.m. Thursday, January 15, 2009 in the Zwick and Jahn Funeral Home, Decatur, Indiana. Preferred memorials are to Worship For Shut-Ins; Zion Lutheran Church, Friedheim-Broadcast Funds; Zion Lutheran Church, Friedheim-Building Fund; or donor's choice.
