Erwin K. Keuneke, 87 years old of Rockford, Ohio, passed away at 7:04 p.m. on Wednesday, November 19, 2008 at his residence. Erwin was born on Monday, March 7, 1921 in Adams County, Indiana, the son of the late Albert Keuneke and the late Martha (Kiess) Keuneke. He married L. Louise Heckert on September 19, 1942 in the St. Thomas Lutheran Church parsonage and she passed away on October 8, 2003. Erwin was a member of the Olive Branch Church of God in Rockford, Ohio and had been a former trustee of the church. He was a member of the American Legion Post #246 in Ohio City, Ohio. Erwin served his country during World War II in the United States Army Air Force in the European Theater. Erwin was a lifelong farmer and retired in 1982 from the General Electric Plant in Decatur, Indiana with 17 years of service. Surviving are his son, John E. (Kathy) Keuneke of Rockford, Ohio, son, David W. (Deb) Keuneke of Rockford, Ohio, daughter, Linda (Dave) Leighner of Rockford, Ohio, brother, Arnold Keuneke of South Whitley, Indiana, brother, Hubert (Iona) Keuneke of Ohio City, Ohio, eight grandchildren, and eight great-grandchildren. Preceding Erwin in death were one daughter, Donna Keuneke on February 26, 2007; one son, Edward Keuneke in 1970; and one brother, Marvin Keuneke. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Monday, November 24, 2008 in the Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home, Decatur, Indiana with Pastor Steve Waterman officiating. Interment will follow in the Evangelical Protestant Cemetery, rual Ohio City, Ohio. Friends will be received from 12:00 Noon to 5:00 p.m. Sunday, November 23, 2008 in the Zwick and Jahn Funeral Home, Decatur, Indiana. Preferred memorials are to the Olive Branch Church of God.
