Pastor Lawrence E. ""Larry"" Morrison, 91 years old, a former resident of Decatur, Indiana, passed away at 8:15 p.m. on Thursday, January 11, 2007 at his residence in Kendallville, Indiana. Larry was born on May 6, 1915 in Lisle, Missouri the son of the late Jesse Franklin Morrison and the late Lillian Naomi (Hunter) Morrison. He married his first wife, Dorothy L. Howe on October 2, 1937 in Butler, Missouri and she passed away on November 6, 1992. He married his second wife, Velma I. Karr, on July 11, 1993 in Savannah, Missouri and she survives. Larry was a member of the First Church of Christ in Garrett, Indiana. Larry worked as a soil conservation clerk for the U.S. Department of Agriculture in Butler, Missouri prior to marriage. He served in the Church of Christ as a pastor since 1954 in three churches; Cedar Creek Church of Christ in Leo, Indiana; Washington Street Church of Christ in Decatur, Indiana; and the Ellisville Church of Christ. Since his retirement in 1989 he had been a pulpit supply minister. Prior to and during his full time ministry he also worked at Central Soya in Decatur, Indiana; farmed; and worked at LaOtto Metal Fabricating. Surviving are his wife, Velma I. Morrison of Kendallville, Indiana, daughter, Anita L. Spiegel of Decatur, Indiana, daughter, Mrs. Keith (Velma Jean) Weimer of Avilla, Indiana, daughter, Mrs. Robert (Karolyn Sue) Geinger of Avilla, Indiana, daughter, Beverly Ann Minch of Decatur, Indiana, daughter, Mrs. Ralph (Donna Kay) Bailer of Decatur, Indiana, step-daughter, Mrs. Gary (Patricia) Atkins of Rosendale, Missouri, sister, Mrs. Don (Erma) Sliger of Decatur, Indiana, sister-in-law, Eileen Morrison of Bellview, Ohio, twelve grandchildren, twenty-two great-grandchildren, seven step-grandchildren, three step-great grandchildren, and two step-great-great grandchildren. Preceding Larry in death were one sister, Lois Klunder, two brothers, Leonard Morrison & Glenn Morrison, one great grandson, one step-granddaughter, and one step-great grandson. Funeral services will be held at 7:00 p.m. Monday, January 15, 2007 in the First Church of Christ in Garrett, Indiana, with the Pastor Jim Lilley and Rick Weimer officiating. Friends will be received from 3:00 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Monday, January 15, 2007 in the First Church of Christ, Garrett Indiana, with the funeral service to follow at 7:00 p.m. There will be visitation from 12:00 NOON to 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, January 16, 2007 in the Zwick and Jahn Funeral Home, Decatur, Indiana. Interment will follow in the Decatur Cemetery, Decatur, Indiana. Preferred memorials are to the First Church of Christ in Garrett, Indiana or the Decatur Church of Christ in Decatur, Indiana. Serving as pallbearers will be Mike Spiegel, Roger Weimer, Ron Weimer, Rick Weimer, Terry Geinger, Tony Geinger, and Lawrence Minch.
