Clara L. Scherer, 91 years old of Decatur, Indiana, passed away at 9:00 a.m. on Thursday, December 1, 2011 in the Village of Heritage located in Monroeville, Indiana. Clara was born on Friday, March 19, 1920 in Wells County, Indiana the daughter of the late Karl Nahrwold and the late Anna (Werling) Nahrwold. She married the late Lloyd Scherer on April 10, 1948 in Ft. Wayne, Indiana and he passed away on February 4, 1985. Clara was a member of the St. Peter Lutheran Church - Fuelling. Clara was a homemaker. Surviving are her daughter, Karen (John) Casey of Ft. Wayne, Indiana; son, Dale (Judy) Scherer of Decatur, Indiana; sister-in-law, LaVon Scherer of Monroeville, Indiana; sister-in-law, Eileen Frederick of Monroeville, Indiana; brother-in-law, Ray Franz of Decatur, Indiana; granddaughter, Megan Scherer of Smyrna, Georgia; granddaughter, Erin Casey of Ft. Wayne, Indiana; granddaughter, Michelle Casey of Ft. Wayne, Indiana; step-grandson, John Casey Jr. of Ft. Wayne, Indiana; step-great-granddaughter, Ayden Casey of Ft. Wayne, Indiana. Preceding Clara in death were 4 sisters: Minnie Meyer, Linda Grewe, Helen Franz, Paula Franz; and 2 brothers: William and Carl Nahrwold. Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, December 4, 2011 in the St. Peter Lutheran Church, Fuelling with Rev. Martin Moehring officiating. Interment will follow in the St. Peter Lutheran Cemetery - Fuelling. Friends will be received from 2-5 and 6-8 p.m. Saturday, December 3, 2011 in the Zwick and Jahn Funeral Home, Decatur, Indiana and one hour prior to the service at the church on Sunday. Preferred memorials are to St. Peter Lutheran Church-Fuelling; Worship For Shut-Ins, Village of Heritage, or Family LifeCare-Berne. The family would like to thank the staff at the Village of Heritage and the staff at Family LifeCare of Berne for their compassionate care of Clara during her stay the the Village of Heritage.
