John R. Eller, 83 years old of Decatur, Indiana, passed away at 12:07 a.m. on Thursday, June 29, 2006 in the Adams Memorial Hospital located in Decatur, Indiana. John was born on October 24, 1922 in Van Wert County, Ohio the son of the late Charlie R. Eller and the late Lulu B. (Barnhart) Eller. He married Rose Marie Kohne on June 5, 1948 in Decatur, Indiana and she survives. John was a member of St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church in Decatur, Indiana and the Knights of Columbus. John served his country in the United States Army during World War II. John retired as a mechanic from Indiana Equipment with 18 years of service; and from Baker & Schultz with 16 years of service. Following his retirement, he helped his son with his mowing business. Surviving are his wife, Rose Marie Eller of Decatur, Indiana, son, Michael Eller of Virginia Beach, Virginia, son, Daniel Eller of Decatur, Indiana, and a step-granddaughter, Allison Schmoll. John was preceded in death by two brothers, Dale R. Eller and Paul L. Eller; and two sisters, Elizabeth Robinson and Gladys E. Kull. A 9:30 a.m. Prayer Service will be held on Monday, July 3, 2006 in the Zwick and Jahn Funeral Home, Decatur, Indiana, followed by a 10:00 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial in the St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church with Father Dave Voors officiating. Interment will follow in the St Joseph Catholic Cemetery. Military Graveside services will be conducted by American Legion Post #43 Color Guard of Adams County. Friends will be received from 12:00 NOON - 5:00 p.m. Sunday, July 2, 2006 in the Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home, Decatur, Indiana. Preferred memorials are masses to the church or the Adams County Community Foundation-Angel Fund.
