Kathryn E. Fuhrman

Kathryn E. Fuhrman, 73 years old of Decatur, Indiana, passed away on Wednesday, July 4, 2007 in the Woodcrest Nursing Center located in Decatur. She was born on Wednesday, December 17, 1933 in Bluffton, Indiana the daughter of William Young and the Elsie (Kruetzman) Young-Peters. Her parents are both deceased. Her step-father, Elmer Peters, who raised her, is also deceased. Kathryn was a member of the Salem United Church of Christ where she was active in the Women's Guild of the church. She was in the General Electric Quarter Century Club, General Electric Women's Retirees, and the General Electric Local 924 Retirees. Kathryn was also a member of the Women of the Moose for 34 years. She was a graduate of Ossian High School and retired in February 1989 from General Electric in Decatur with 36 ½ years of service. Surviving are her step-brother, Leroy Peters of Celina, Ohio, half-brother, David Young of Flushing, Michigan, cousin, Lila Rauner of Decatur, Indiana, cousin, Linda Kalthoff of Hoagland, Indiana, step-daughter, Elizabeth Shear of Decatur, Indiana, step-son, Karl Fuhrman Jr. of Decatur, Indiana, three step-grandchildren, and two step great-grandchildren. Preceding Kathryn in death was one half-sister, Mary Lou Young. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday, July 6, 2007 in the Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home with Rev. Jean Carmean officiating. Interment will follow in the Salem United Church of Christ Cemetery. Friends will be received from 11:30 a.m. until the time of the service at 1:30 p.m., Friday, July 6 in the Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home, Decatur, Indiana. Preferred memorials are to Council on Aging or the Salem United Church of Christ.
