John B. Lortie, 90 years old of New Haven, Indiana, passed away at 5:03 a.m. on Sunday, March 25, 2007 in the Parkview Hospital located in Fort Wayne, Indiana. John was born on April 29, 1916 in Allen County, Indiana, the son of the late Francis F. Lortie and the late Bertha I. (Leonard) Lortie. He married Celeste C. Coonrod on April 30, 1938 in the St. Louis Besancon Catholic Church, New Haven, Indiana. He was a member of St. Louis Besancon Catholic Church in New Haven, Indiana. Jon retired in 1981 from Hardward Wholesalers with 22 years of service; and had farmed for over 20 years. Surviving are his wife, Celeste C. Lortie of New Haven, Indiana, son, David B. (Judy) Lortie of Columbia City, Indiana, son, Thomas L. (Linda Sue) Lortie of Woodburn, Indiana, son, Patrick M. (Terri) Lortie of Monroeville, Indiana, daughter, Linda E. (Phillip) Lee of South Whitley, Indiana, daughter, Janine C. (Daniel) Foellinger of Ft. Wayne, Indiana, brother, Dominic C. Lortie of Butler, Indiana, brother, Paul E. Lortie of Monroeville, Indiana, sister, Mary Ann Kreger of Churubusco, Indiana, twenty-three grandchildren, and forty great-grandchildren. Preceding John in death were one son, John Francis Lortie; one daughter, Victoria M. Kumfer; and three brothers, Adrian, Dallas, and Earl Lortie; and one sister, Shirley Kemp. There will be a 9:20 a.m. Prayer Service on Thursday, March 29, 2007 in the Zwick and Jahn Funeral Home, Jacobs Chapel, Monoroeville, Indiana followed by a 10:00 a.m. Mass of Christian Burial in the St. Louis Besancon Catholic Church, rural New Haven, Indiana. Father Stephen Colchin will be officiating. Interment will follow in the St. Louis Besancon Catholic Cemetery - New Haven, Indiana. Friends will be received from 1:00 p.m. -8:00 p.m. Wednesday, March 28, 2007 in the Zwick and Jahn Funeral Home, Jacobs Chapel, Monroeville, Indiana. A Rosary Service will be held at 8:00 p.m. Wedneday at the funeral home. Preferred memorials are Masses to St. Louis Besancon Catholic Church; or the St. Louis Academy.
