Bernice M. Miller, 85 years old of Rockford, Ohio, and a former Willshire, Ohio resident, passed away at 10:30 p.m. on Sunday, August 16, 2009 in the Colonial Nursing Home located in Rockford, Ohio, where she had resided for the past 5 years. Bernice was born on Tuesday, October 2, 1923 in Mt. Trail County, North Dakota the daughter of the late John B. Berg and the late Karen (Sjomling) Berg. She married the late Leland E. Miller on April 1, 1941 in Cando, North Dakota and he passed away on December 7, 1996. Bernice was a member of the Willshire United Methodist Church in Willshire, Ohio; and the American Legion Auxillary. Bernice was a homemaker and had been a cook at various places for over 20 years. Surviving are her daughter, Barbara N. (Merl K.) Lugar Jr. of Berne, Indiana; daughter, Judith C. (Howard) Hess of Willshire, Ohio; son, Joseph G. (Janet) Miller of Celina, Ohio; brother, Kenneth J. Berg of Cheyenne, Wyoming; ten grandchildren, nineteen great-grandchildren, and two great-great-grandchildren. Preceding Bernice in death were 1 son, William Lee Miller in 1967; 3 brothers, Arnie, Martin, & Edward Berg; 4 sisters, Julia Moe, Mable Henze, Connie Loyd, and Ollie Seeger; and 3 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Friday, August 21, 2009 in the Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home with Pastor Joe Naas officiating. Interment will follow in the Willshire Cemetery, Willshire, Ohio. Friends will be received from 2-4 and 5-8 p.m. Thursday, August 20, 2009 in the Zwick a nd Jahn Funeral Home, Decatur, Indiana. Preferred memorials are to the Bennie, Billy, Carey Scholarship Fund or Colonial Nursing Home Activity Fund in Rockford, Ohio.
