Josephine V. Weldy, 76 years old of Decatur, Indiana, passed away on Saturday, August 2, 2008 in Adams Memorial Hospital, where she had been a patient for the past two days. She was born on Monday, December 21, 1931 in Adams County, Indiana the daughter of the late Chalmer K. Sheets and the late Melvena M. (Smitley) Sheets. She married Jack M. Weldy on July 3, 1949 in Whitley County, Indiana and he passed away on October 27, 2001. Josephine was a graduate of Pleasant Mills High School in 1949. She was a member of the Union Chapel United Methodist Church in Decatur and the V.F.W. Auxiliary of Decatur. She was a homemaker and had been previously employed at General Electric of Decatur for seven years. She had also worked at Dairy Queen, Pizza Hut, Decatur Wire-Die and K-mart. Surviving are four sons; Russell E. (Dawn) Weldy, Jack M. (Dawn) Weldy Jr. & Lloyd E. (Tami) Weldy, all of Decatur, Indiana and Michael V. Weldy of Geneva, Indiana, daughter, Mrs. Neil (Wauneta A.) "Otis" Kegerreis of Pennville, Indiana, four sisters; Dolores J. Tschannen & Mrs Richard (Carolyn S.) Marbaugh of Decatur, Indiana, Mrs. John (Betty J.) Oversholser of Logansport, Indiana and Mrs. William (Mary L.) McCarty of Cutler, Indiana, two brothers; Max E. Sheets of Lima, Ohio and Lester L. Sheets of Monroe, Indiana, thirteen grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren and three step-great-grandchildren. Preceding Josephine in death were one daughter, Cynthia F. Weldy, three sisters; Faye Ann Sheets, Esther Peterson & Sally McDonough, one brother, Jay Sheets, one grandson and one great-grandson. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, August 7, 2008 in the Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home with Rev. Ed Karges officiating. Interment will follow in the Mt. Tabor Cemetery, Decatur. Friends will be received from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Wednesday, August 6 in the Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home, Decatur. Preferred memorials are to Union Chapel United Methodist Church.
