Roger Davis Ripley, 77 years old of Decatur, Indiana, passed away at 10:14 p.m. on Friday, May 11, 2012 at his residence. Roger was born on Saturday, February 16, 1935 in Adams County, Indiana the son of the late Leland Ripley and the late Midge (Davis) Ripley. He married Betty M. Roe on December 4, 1954 in Decatur, Indiana and she survives. Roger was a member of the Willshire Union United Methodist Church, served on the Decatur Planning Commission, Board of Zoning Appeals, coached Little League and Pony League for Monmouth from 1967-1973. Roger owned and operated Roe-Ripley Construction Inc. and retired in 1996 after 42 years. Prior to construction he worked for Home Dairy in Berne, Indiana. Surviving are his wife, Betty M. Ripley of Decatur, IN; son, Kevin (Kris) Ripley of Decatur, IN; daughter, Sherry (Richard) Grote of Goshen, IN; sister, Enid Roberts of Columbus, IN; brother, Charles E. (Norma) Ripley of Plymouth, IN; brother, Marcus J. (Penny) Ripley of Decatur, IN; brother, Thomas M. (Arvilla) Ripley of Lexington, KY; brother, Michael K. (Emily) Ripley of Ft. Wayne, IN; sister, Laura Pauline (Marvin) Joray of Wentworth, SD; son-in-law, Kim Schamerloh of Decatur, IN; seven grandchildren: Brad Schamerloh, Jenny Koerner, Megan Schamerloh, Randon Ripley, Kylee Johnson, Kaitlynn Grote, and Trey Grote; seven great-grandchildren: Noah & Eli Schamerloh, Aubrey Koerner, Colten, Hunter, & Ellie Johnson, and Kason Grote. The 8th great-grandchild is due in July. Preceding Roger in death were one daughter, Rozelyn Schamerloh; one son, Roger Duane Ripley; two brothers, David L. Ripley, and John W. Ripley. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, May 16, 2012 in the Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home with Rev. Mitch Ripley and Rev. Bud Larimore officiating. Interment will follow in the Tricker Cemetery, Monroe, IN. Friends will be received from 1-8 p.m. Tuesday, May 15, 2012 in the Zwick and Jahn Funeral Home, Decatur, IN and one hour prior to the service at the funeral home on Wednesday. Preferred memorials are to A.C.C.F. - Lung; A.C.C.F. - Cancer; or the Willshire Union United Methodist Church.
