Estella M. Coonrod, 86 years old of Monroeville, Indiana, passed away at 10:57 p.m. on Friday, January 15, 2010 in the Parkview Hospital located in Fort Wayne, Indiana. Estella was born on Friday, January 19, 1923 in Racine, Wisconsin the daughter of the late Bruno Persyn and the late Mary (Lootens) Persyn. She married the late Ross W. Coonrod on March 21, 1946 and he passed away on October 7, 1989. She was a member of St. Louis Besancon Catholic Church in New Haven, Indiana. Estella was a P.F.C. in the Army Air Corp from 1943 to 1945. She was also a homemaker. Surviving are her son, CMD SGT. MAJ. (Ret) Lawrence W. (Carmen) Coonrod of Lampasa , Texas; son, Eugene R. (Betty) Coonrod of Monroeville, Indiana; son, Warren L. (Holly) Coonrod of Monroeville, Indiana; daughter, Rita M. (David) Lewis of Van Wert, Ohio; sister, Lillian Powell of Van Wert, Ohio; sister, Clara Reeb of Antwerp, Ohio; brother, Robert Persyn of Ft. Wayne, Indiana; seven grandchildren: Joseph, Samuel, Steven Coonrod; Stacey Isenbarger; Molly Mosier; Douglas Lewis; and Andrea McElmurry; and thirteen great-grandchildren. Preceding Estella in death were one grandchild, David H. Lewis II in 1995. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, January 19, 2010 in the St. Louis Besancon Catholic Church, New Haven, Indiana with Father Stephen Colchin officiating. Interment will follow in the St. Louis Catholic Cemetery. Friends will be received from 4:00 - 7:00 p.m. Monday, January 18, 2010 in the Zwick and Jahn Funeral Home, Jacobs Chapel, Monroeville, Indiana and one hour prior to the service at the church on Tuesday. Preferred memorials are to Masses to the church or the Monroeville EMS.
