David J. Blume, 64 years old of rural Decatur, Indiana, passed away Monday afternoon, February 12, 2007 at his residence from natural causes. David was born on March 14, 1942 in Decatur, Indiana, the son of the late Jesse D. Blume and the late Irene W. (Bloemker) Blume. David had received an architectural degree and had served his country in the United States Air Force during the Viet Nam War. David was employed by Hoosier Wire & Die in Ft. Wayne, Indiana and engaged in operating the family farm. He also retired from the News Sentinel Newspaper as a rural carrier. Surviving are his brother, Eugene M. (Kris) Blume of rural Decatur, Indiana, brother, Edward A. Blume of rural Decatur, Indiana, sister, Mrs. Charles (Joan) Blume-Fuhrman of rural Decatur, Indiana, brother, Donald L. (Sandy) Blume of rural Decatur, Indiana, sister, Mrs. Samuel (Dianne) Ortiz of rural Decatur, Indiana, sister-in-law, Betty Blume of Ft. Wayne, Indiana; sixteen nieces and nephews and sixteen great-nieces and nephews. Preceding David in death was one brother, Jesse Blume Jr. and two nieces. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, February 17, 2007 in the Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home with Dr. Robert Brink officiating. Interment will follow in the Salem U.C.C. Cemetery, Magley, Indiana. Friends will be received from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Friday, February 16, 2007 in the Zwick and Jahn Funeral Home, Decatur, Indiana and one hour prior to the service on Saturday at the funeral home. Preferred memorials are to the Adams County Community Foundation-Lung Fund or the donor's choice.
