Jesse B. Combs, 63 years old of Decatur, Indiana, passed away at 8:56 p.m. on Wednesday, August 2, 2006 in the Parkview Memorial Hospital located in Fort Wayne. He had been a patient since Saturday and he died unexpectedly. Jesse was born on November 15, 1942 in East Bernstadt, Kentucky, the son of the late Ballard Combs and the late Fannie E. (Hodge) Combs. He married Cheryl A. Weterick on November 23, 1974 and she survives. Jesse was a member of Mt. Zion United Brethren Church in Bobo, Indiana. Jesse retired from General Electric with 25 years of service; had also been employed by Don Ray Trucking in Decatur, Indiana; and was currently working at Same Day Trucking in Bluffton, Indiana. Surviving are his wife, Cheryl A. Combs of Decatur, Indiana, son, Ed Combs of Decatur, Indiana, son, Kurt D. Combs of Monroe, Indiana, brother, Pearl Combs of Richmond, Indiana, sister, Ruth Peters of London, Kentucky, sister, Mrs. Dick (Ruby) Ogg of Decatur, Indiana, sister, Ida Lou Danels of Decatur, Indiana, sister, Dorothy Wolfe of Pleasant Mills, Indiana, sister, Juanita Campos of Decatur, Indiana, sister, Marie Hutzell of Richmond, Indiana, five grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren. Preceding Jesse in death were one son, Delmer Combs; one grandson, Kyle Combs; two sisters, Suda and Zola Combs; and two brothers, Harve Combs and Johnnie Combs. Funeral services will be held at 3:30 p.m. Sunday, August 6, 2006 in the Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home with the Rev. Richard Sprunger and the Rev. John Follett officiating. Interment will follow in the Decatur Cemetery, Decatur, Indiana. Friends will be received from 2-8 p.m. Saturday, August 5, 2006 in the Zwick and Jahn Funeral Home, Decatur, Indiana; and from 1:30 p.m. - 3:30 p.m. Sunday, prior to the service at the funeral home. Preferred memorials are to the donor's choice.
