Gerald L. Beer, 74 years old of Decatur, Indiana, passed away on Sunday, March 25, 2012 at his residence. He was born on Saturday, December 25, 1937 in Decatur, Indiana the son of the late Wilbert Beer and the late Della (Zurcher) Beer. He married Glenda C. Thomas on December 22, 1956 in the Zion United Church of Christ in Decatur. Gerald was a member of the Zion United Church of Christ; the Moose Lodge #1311; and the Sons of the American Legion. He was the owner & operator of Beer Sewer & Septic from 1987 to his retirement in 2005. Surviving are his wife, Glenda C. Beer of Decatur; son, Robert D. (Mary) Beer of Decatur; son, Daniel L. (Brenda) Beer of Wolcottville, Indiana; son, Rodney K. (Debra) Beer of Bronson, Michigan; daughter, Peggy S. (David) Rumschlag of Decatur; sister, Vera Nolan of St. Mary's , Ohio; sister, Lucille Clem of Decatur; fourteen grandchildren; and fourteen great-grandchildren. Preceding Gerald in death were a granddaughter, Megan Beer; four brothers: Dale, Glen, Chester & Arthur Beer; and five sisters: Harriet Beer, Marjorie Buuck, Agnes Beer, Verna Feasel & Melvena Hirschy. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, March 28, 2012 in the Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home with Rev. Randy Rossman officiating. Interment will follow in the Decatur Cemetery. Friends will be received from 2 to 5 and 6 to 8 p.m., Tuesday, March 27 in the Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home, Decatur. Preferred memorials are to donor's choice.
