Robert D. Luginbill, 86 years old of Decatur, Indiana, passed away at 7:25 a.m. on Saturday, September 19, 2009. He became ill at Swiss Village and passed away shortly after arrival at the Adams Memorial Hospital Emergency Room. Robert was born on Wednesday, November 22, 1922 in Berne, Indiana the son of the late Theodore Walter Luginbill and the late Francina (Fisher) Luginbill. He married the late Evelyn F. Hamrick on November 7, 1942 in Adams County, Indiana and she passed away on August 9, 2004. Robert was a charter member of the Mt. Hope Church of the Nazarene in Berne, Indiana. Robert served his country during World War II in the United States Army, in Europe and in the Pacific. Robert retired as a supervisor from Luginbill Wire Die in New Haven, Indiana after 50 years of service. Surviving are his daughter, Connie S. Wilson of Indianapolis, Indiana; son, Mike (Miriam) Luginbill of Bourbonnais, Illinois; son, Greg (Elaine) Luginbill of Monticello, Georgia; daughter, Kathleen (Randy) Reynolds of Decatur, Indiana; son, Jeff (Julie) Luginbill of Decatur, Indiana; daughter, JoEllen "Jody" (Gary) Lengerich of Berne, Indiana; twenty grandchildren, and twenty great-grandchildren. Preceding Robert in death was one sister, Phyllis Huser Norton. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, September 23, 2009 in the Mt. Hope Church of the Nazarene with Pastor Tim Miller, Pastor Caleb Reynolds, and Pastor Dave Boots officiating. Interment will follow in the Mt. Hope (Willard) Cemetery in rural Berne, Indiana. Graveside Honors by American Legion Post #43 Color Guard of Adams County. Friends will be received from 1-4 and 5-8 p.m. Tuesday, September 22, 2009 in the Zwick and Jahn Funeral Home, Decatur, Indiana and one hour prior to the service at the church on Wednesday. Preferred memorials are to Mt. Hope Missions Fund.
