Wendell J. Seaman, 92 years old of Decatur, Indiana, passed away on Thursday, January 6, 2011 in Adams Memorial Hospital. His death was unexpected and followed a brief illness. He was born on Monday, April 29, 1918 in Wells County, Indiana the son of the late Luchin Seaman and the late Dora (Hartup) Seaman. He married Harriet Ruth Clark on December 15, 1939 in Markle, Indiana. Wendell was a member of the St. Mark's United Methodist Church in Decatur and the Masonic Lodge #571 in Decatur for over 60 years. He enjoyed woodworking, gardening, swimming, and biking. He retired in 1977 from Central Soya (Bunge) Decatur Plant in the Research Department after thirty years of service. He was also in business with Art Beeler and they owned and operated four chicken houses in Monmouth for over twelve years. Surviving are his wife, Harriet Ruth Seaman of Decatur, daughter, Ann (Dan) Bieberich of Decatur, granddaughter, Lisa (Marlin) Scheumann of Decatur, granddaughter, Lana (Sam) Griffiths of Decatur, four great-grandchildren; Emily (Adam) Minnich, Natalie Scheumann, Kaylee Scheumann & Benton Griffiths and one great-great grandson, Clayton Minnich. Preceding Wendell in death were three brothers, Delbert, Everett, and Waldo Seaman; one sister, Faye High. Funeral services will be held at 4:00 p.m. Sunday, January 9, 2011 in the St. Mark's United Methodist Church with Pastor Michael Heinbaugh officiating. Interment will follow in the Decatur Cemetery, Decatur. Friends will be received from 2 to 3 p.m. Saturday, January 8 in the Woodcrest Porter Auditorium and from 5 to 8 p.m., Saturday in the Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home, Decatur. Friends will also be received one hour prior to the service at the church on Sunday. Preferred memorials are to St. Mark's United Methodist Church Food Pantry.
