Gerald G. Hisner

Gerald G. Hisner, 86 years old of Hoagland, Indiana, passed away at 8:05 p.m. on Monday, October 22, 2007 in the Visiting Nurse & Hospice Home located in Fort Wayne, Indiana. Gerald was born on Tuesday, June 14, 1921 in Maples, Indiana, the son of the late Nelson Hisner and the late Edna (Monnot) Hisner. He married Vivan C. Gresley on August 24, 1944 in St. John Lutheran Church- Flatrock in rural Monroeville, Indiana. Gerald was a graduate of Hoagland High School Class of 1941 and served in the United States Army during World War II, attaining the rank of Corporal. He was a member of Antioch Lutheran Church in Hoagland, Indiana. He was an avid baseball fan and had played for several local teams in the 40's and 50's. Gerald owned and operated the Shell Service Station in Hoagland, Indiana for 20 years, retiring in 1970. In his retirement, he enjoyed his hobby of chain saw sharpening. Surviving are his wife, Vivan C. (Gresley) Hisner of Hoagland, Indiana, brother, Parnell (Ann) Hisner of Monroeville, Indiana, sister-in-law, Garnet Hisner of Hoagland, Indiana; and sister-in-law, Ruth Hisner of Ossian, Indiana. Preceding Gerald in death were two brothers, Rowland and Gordon Hisner; and one sister, Marvine Hisner. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, October 26, 2007 in the Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home, Jacobs Chapel, Monroeville, Indiana with the Rev. Mark Aspy officiating. Interment will follow in the I.O.O.F. Cemetery in New Haven, Indiana. Friends will be received from 1-4 and 6-8 p.m. Thursday, October 25, 2007 in the Zwick and Jahn Funeral Home, Jacobs Chapel, Monroeville, Indiana. Preferred memorials are to Antioch Lutheran Church or the Visiting Nurse & Hospice in Ft. Wayne, Indiana.
