Norma Roop, 79 years old of Bothell, Washington, a former Decatur, Indiana resident, passed away at 7:10 p.m. on Friday, May 14, 2010 in the Northcreek Nursing Home located in Bothell. Norma was born on Saturday, August 2, 1930 in Grand Rapids, Michigan the daughter of the late Richard Smith and the late Lillian (Sawyer) Smith. She married the late Harley J. Roop on August 25, 1949 in Grand Rapids, Michigan and he passed away in June of 1993. Norma was a member of the St. Mark's United Methodist Church in Decatur, Indiana; the Rebecca Circle of the church; and the American Legion Auxiliary in Decatur. She was a graduate of Union High School Class of 1949 in Grand Rapids, Michigan. Norma had worked at Montgomery Ward from 1969 to 1976. Surviving are her daughter, Debra (Jerry) Marshall of Clyde, Ohio; daughter, Linda Smith of Bothell, Washington; three grandchildren: Tina Renee Shuman, Bobbie Jo Moyer, and Charity Louise Gleghorn; and seven great-grandchildren: Jacob Daniel Shuman, Jami Elizabeth Shuman, Dylan Scott Gulick, Chase David Gulick, Aspen Renee Moyer, Aislyn Louise Gleghorn, and Corbin Tyler Gleghorn. Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, May 21, 2010 in the St. Mark's United Methodist Church with Rev. Michael Heinbaugh officiating. Interment will follow in the Decatur Cemetery. Friends will be received from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. Friday, May 21, 2010 in the St. Marks United Methodist Church in Decatur. Preferred memorials are to St. Mark's United Methodist Church or Parkinson's Disease Foundation.
