Donald L. Bieberich, 80 years old of Decatur, Indiana, passed away on Monday, April 6, 2009 in the Adams Memorial Hospital after being recently diagnosed with brain cancer. His death was unexpected. He was born on Sunday, March 31, 1929 in Adams County, Indiana the son of Arthur H. and Adele I. (Graft) Bieberich. He married Ann A. Ruble on July 6, 1957 in Zion Lutheran Church, Decatur. Don was called to duty during the Korean War and served in the United States Army as a payroll clerk and chaplain assistant, being Honorably Discharged on October14, 1952. He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, Decatur and Adams Post 43 American Legion. He was a previous member of the Decatur Optimist Club and was a longtime organist at Zion Lutheran Church, Decatur and Immanuel Lutheran Church. Don was self-employed with AAB Inc. house painting since December 1991 and was previously employed with First State Bank of Decatur for 42 years, retiring in 1991. Surviving are his wife of 51 years, Ann A. Bieberich of Decatur, daughter, Lisa A. (Tony) Bowman of Decatur, son, Matthew D. (Jackie) Bieberich of Marblehead, Ohio, brother, Loren W. (Barbara) Bieberich of Noblesville, Indiana, sister, Eileen Freeby of Decatur and five granddaughters; Samantha, Madison & Lauren Bowman and Sydney & Isabelle Bieberich. Preceding Donald in death was one brother, Richard Bieberich. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, April 10, 2009 in the Immanuel Lutheran Church with Pastor David Koeneman officiating. Interment will follow in the Immanuel Lutheran Cemetery with military graveside services conducted by the Adams Post 43 American Legion Color Guard. Friends will be received from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Thursday, April 9 in the Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home, Decatur and one hour prior to services Friday in the church. Preferred memorials are to Immanuel Lutheran Church - Building Fund, ACCF - Cancer Fund or ACCF - Heart Fund.
