Herbert J. Pearson, 80 years old of Decatur, Indiana, passed away at 8:10 p.m. on Thursday, June 23, 2011 at his residence. Herbert was born on Wednesday, November 12, 1930 in Huntington, Indiana the son of the late Edward Cary Pearson and the late Ruby Josephine (Bailey) Pearson. He married Jeannine L. (Simon) Wright on August 4, 1989 in Ft. Wayne, Indiana and she survives. Herbert was a member of the Adams Post #43 American Legion; the VFW #6751; and the Korean War Veterans Association. He was a graduate of Huntington High School Class of 1949. Herbert retired from the Erie Railroad with 35 years of service as a signalman. Herbert served his country in the United States Marines during the Korean War. Surviving are his wife, Jeannine L. Wright of Decatur, Indiana; daughter, Michael Ann (Pearson) Kuss of Walkerton, Indiana; step-son, Ronald T. (Kim) Wright of Decatur, Indiana; step-son, C. Thomas Wright of Ft. Wayne, Indiana; step-son, Tim (Ginny) Sands of Decatur, Indiana; sister, Marjorie (Don) Ramsey of Huntington, Indiana; brother, Rex (Marsha) Pearson of Huntington, Indiana; three grandchildren: Amber Jean Kuss, Lauren Marie Kuss, Olivia Janet Kuss; and seven step-grandchildren: Ronald James Wright, Samantha Elizabeth Wright, Shelby Kate Wright, Patrick Anthony Wright, Henry Jack Wright, Sophia Ann Wright, and Christine suzanne Wright. Preceding Herbert in death were one daughter, Julie Lynn Pearson in July 2000; and two brothers, Jerry and Robert Pearson. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Tuesday, June 28, 2011 in the Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home with Rev. Marcia Cline and Rev. Laura Sherwood officiating. Interment will follow in the Lancaster Cemetery in Lancaster, Indiana. Military Graveside Services will be conducted by the Adams Post #43 American Legion Color Guard. Friends will be received from 2-5 and 6-8 p.m. Monday, June 27, 2011 in the Zwick and Jahn Funeral Home, Decatur, Indiana Preferred memorials are to Make A Wish Foundation or Family Hospice and Palliative Care-Berne.
