Dorothy Lucile Korte, 80 years old of Decatur, Indiana, passed away at 8:45 a.m. on Monday, January 10, 2011 at her residence. Dorothy was born on Friday, November 28, 1930 in Convoy, Ohio the daughter of the late Herman Etzler and the late Muriel (Scaer) Etzler. She married Ed Korte on June 27, 1953 in Convoy, Ohio and he survives. Dorothy was a member of the St. Paul Lutheran Church, Preble and a former member of the St. John Lutheran Church, Flatrock for over 45 years. She was a graduate of Convoy High School Class of 1948. Dorothy was an inspiration to many who met her and knew her. Dorothy retired from Fort Wayne National Bank in December of 1998 as a Mortgage Loan Processor after 23 years of service. Following her retirement, she became the CFO of the Haunted Barn Organization. Surviving are her husband, Ed Korte of Decatur, Indiana; son, Ronald A. Korte of Decatur, Indiana; daughter, Karen (Jeff) Soldner of Roanoke, Indiana; son, Thomas G. (Gelana) Korte of Decatur, Indiana; son, Timothy D. (Kim) Korte of Roanoke, Indiana; daughter, Jean E. (Rich) Skaggs of Decatur, Indiana; brother, Marvin C. (Eldora) Etzler of Lima, Ohio; sister, Pauline M. Etzler of Van Wert, Ohio; sister, Donna M. Etzler of Van Wert, Ohio; eight grandchildren: Jeremiah Lenegar, Josh Korte, Brian Korte, Tyler Korte, Braden Korte, Jim Hendricks, Kelsey Skaggs, and Jonathon Skaggs; five step-grandchildren: Rich Skaggs Jr., Lani and Nicki Soldner, John and Cassidy Geller; two great-grandchildren: Chase and Dane Lenegar; two step-great-grandchildren: Tyler Sherrill and Trey Skaggs. Preceding Dorothy in death was one sister, Margaret E. Bieberich. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Friday, January 14, 2011 in the St. Paul Lutheran Church, Preble with Rev. Daniel J. Brege officiating. Interment will follow in the St Paul Lutheran Cemetery, Preble. Friends will be received from 2-4 and 5-8 p.m. Thursday, January 13, 2011 in the Zwick and Jahn Funeral Home, Decatur, Indiana and one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday. Preferred memorials are to St. Paul Lutheran Church, Preble.
