Morris S. "Rosey" Krueckeberg, 86 years old of Decatur, Indiana, passed away on Monday, December 26, 2011 in Woodcrest Nursing Center. He was born on Sunday, December 20, 1925 in Adams County, Indiana the son of the late Gustav Krueckeberg and the late Selma (Bleeke) Krueckeberg. He married Naomi Harvey on September 25, 1949. Rosey served his country in the United States Navy during World War II, serving on the aircraft carrier USS Manila Bay as a radar operator. He was a member of Zion Lutheran Church in Decatur, the American Legion Post #43, and the Decatur Elks Lodge. Rosey retired from International Harvest after thirty-nine years of service. He also served as the editor of the USS Manila Bay Bayonet, a newsletter published for the veterans who served on the USS Manila Bay during World War II. Surviving are his wife, Naomi Krueckeberg of Decatur; son, Kim (Sheryl) Krueckeberg of Fort Wayne; daughter, Kay (Jim) Strasburg of Decatur; daughter, Kelli (Mike) Jennings of Decatur; daughter, Kendel (Brad) Krehl of Martinsburg, Pennsylvania; daughter, Karla (Jeff) Frownfelter of Ellettsville, Indiana; sister, Norma (Ben) Miller of Decatur; sister, Irene (Gene) Kiess of Decatur; and brother, Melvin (Arlene) Krueckeberg of New Haven. He is also survived by ten grandchildren; Christie Fomby, Lori Garcia, Danielle Berwert, Ryan Jennings, Elliott Krehl, Jamie Krueckeberg, Kyle Stern, Betsy Krueckeberg, Noah Krehl, & Katie Kennard and eight great-grandchildren; Alexis Fomby, Dana Garcia, Bryson Jennings, Madelyn Gibbs, Kaylee Jennings, Ashlyn Jennings, Reece Garcia, and Hollyn Berwert. He was preceded in death by a son, Kyle Krueckeberg; a brother, Truman Krueckeberg; and three sisters; Esther Krueckeberg, Amanda Dressler & Gertrude Heine. Funeral services will be held at 3:00 p.m. Thursday, December 29, 2011 in the Zion Lutheran Church with Rev. Phil Phifer officiating. Interment will follow in the Decatur Cemetery. Friends will be received from 3-5 and 6-8 p.m., Wednesday, December 28 in the Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home, Decatur and one hour prior to the service at the church on Thursday. Preferred memorials are to Zion Lutheran Church, Decatur.
