Ralph E. Jackson, 81 years old of Decatur, Indiana, passed away at 5:16 p.m. on Thursday, June 23, 2011 in the Englewood Health & Rehabilitation Center located in Fort Wayne, Indiana. Ralph was born on Sunday, February 16, 1930 in Adams County, Indiana the son of the late Rolla R. Jackson and the late Oda (Gay) Jackson. He married Sharon L. Alverson on October 20, 1990 and she survives. Ralph attended the Cornerstone Missionary Church in Decatur. Ralph retired in 1989 from General Electric with 40 years of service. Ralph served his country in the United States Air Force from 1951 to 1953 during the Korean War. Surviving are his wife, Sharon L. Jackson of Decatur, Indiana; daughter, Monica Johnson of Decatur, Indiana; daughter, Lori (Dan) Workinger of Decatur, Indiana; son, Timothy E. (Renee) Jackson of Linn Grove, Indiana; step-daughter, Nancy (Mike) Riley of East Massillon, Ohio; step-daughter, Kay (Scott) Saylor of Decatur, Indiana; step-son, Mark McMillen of Bullhead City, Arizona; brother, Marion M. Jackson of Centreville, Alabama, sister, Eloise Smith of Marietta, Georgia, sister, Elva M. Liechty of Ft. Wayne, Indiana; seven grandchildren, six step-grandchildren, three great-grandsons, and one step-great-granddaughter. Preceding Ralph in death was one brother, Richard Jackson and one sister, Clarice Lawson. Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, June 27, 2011 in the Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home with Pastor Brian Beall officiating. Interment will follow in the Decatur Cemetery. Military Graveside Honors by American Legion Post #43 Color Guard. Friends will be received from 11:00 a.m. - 2:00 p.m. and 3:00 -6:00 p.m. Sunday, June 26, 2011 in the Zwick and Jahn Funeral Home, Decatur, Indiana. Preferred memorials are to the New Hope Hospice in Marion, Indiana; or Alzheimer Research Center.
