Mary C. Fryback - Metheny, 89 years old of Evansville, Indiana and a former Poe and rural Decatur, Indiana resident, passed away on Wednesday, May 23, 2007 in the Deaconess Hospice Care Center located in Evansville. She was born on Friday, November 2, 1917 in Allen County, Indiana the daughter of the late George A. Monnot and the late Ida F. (Christman) Monnot. She married the late Harold H. Fryback on September 2, 1939 and he passed away on September 24, 1967. Mary married the late Leland L. Metheny on October 10, 1987 and he passed away on June 26, 1993. Mary was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church, Hessan Cassel and a lifetime member of the Indiana Volunteer Firefighters Auxiliary. She was involved in the Ladies of the Moose, Decatur and the Poe Volunteer Fire Department Auxiliary. She retired from Sears and Roebuck with 30 years of service. Surviving are her daughter, Dianna Dassel of Evansville, Indiana, grandson, Loren Rachels of Evansville, Indiana, step-daughter, Mrs. Keith (Marna C.) Guenin of Hoagland, Indiana, step-daughter, Mrs. Steve (Lee) Burris of Woodburn, Indiana, step-daughter, Mrs. Gary (Mary) Koenemann of New Haven, Indiana, step-daughter, Mrs. Bruce (Deborah) Davis of Indianapolis, Indiana, step-daughter, Mrs. Charles (Tamara) Thomas of Tekonsha, Michigan, step-daughter, Mrs. Jeffrey (Melissa) Liechty of Kokomo, Indiana, step-son, Leland (Lea) Metheny Jr. of Fort Wayne, Indiana, step-daughter, Mrs. Greg (Kelley) Schultz of Chesterfield, Virginia, step-daughter, Mrs. James (Bianca "Cassie") Graber of Fort Wayne, Indiana, God-daughter, Antoinette Sorg of Fort Wayne, Indiana, 24 step-grandchildren, 31 step-great-grandchildren. Preceding Mary in death were two brothers, Charles (Tub) Monnot & Cliffort Monnot and sister, Harriet Rupright. Funeral services will be held at 10:00 a.m. Saturday, May 26, 2007 in the St. Joseph Catholic Church-Hessen Cassel with Father Thomas Lombardi officiating. Interment will follow in the Covington Memorial Gardens, Fort Wayne, Indiana. Friends will be received from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Friday, May 25 in the Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home, Decatur. A Rosary will be recited at 4:00 p.m. at the funeral home and there will be a Women of the Moose Service held at 8:00 p.m. Preferred memorials are Masses to the church or the donor's choice.
