Silven C. May, 85 years old of Monroeville, Indiana, passed away on Saturday, December 17, 2011 at his residence following an illness of ten months. He was born on Sunday, August 8, 1926 in Coxton, Kentucky the son of the late Andy May and the late Cora (Peavley) May. He married Juanita Gibson on February 28, 1955 in Auburn, Indiana. Silven served in the United States Army during WW II. He attended Monroeville Church of the Nazarene and was a member of the VFW 4717 in Wolf Lake, Indiana and the American Legion Post #420 in Monroeville, Indiana. He enjoyed golf, baseball and shuffleboard. Silven retired in 1990 with twenty years of service as a resident counselor for the Indiana State Developmental Center. He had also previously been employed by Joslyn Steel Corporation in Fort Wayne. Surviving are his wife, Juanita May of Monroeville; son, John L. (Gail) May of Fort Wayne; son, William A. May of Monroeville; son, Larry Moses of Fort Wayne; son, Jimmy May of Monroeville; daughter, Linda (Larry) Pray of Hoagland; son, Thomas (Nina) May of Monroeville; nine grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren. Preceding Silven in death was his sister, Jewel Moses. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. Wednesday, December 21, 2011 in the Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home, Jacobs Chapel with Pastor Brent Hickman officiating. Interment will follow in the Monroeville Memorial Cemetery. Friends will be received from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, December 21 in the Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home, Jacobs Chapel, Monroeville. Preferred memorials are to Cancer Services of Northeast Indiana or Parkview Hospice.
