Marie A. Bowers, 101 years old of Monroeville, Indiana, passed away at 3:45 a.m. at her residence on Thursday, September 13, 2007. Marie was born on September 17, 1905 in Allen County, Indiana, the daughter of the late Anton Herber and the late Martha (Schmidt) Herber. She married the late Earl J. Bowers on June 21, 1941 in Hessen Cassel and he passed away on Ocotboer 17, 1971. Marie was a member of St. Louis Catholic Church, Besancon; Rosary Society; Gold Star Mothers; and the Monroeville Senior Citizens. She was also a homemaker. Surviving are her son, Michael A. Bowers of Monroeville, Indiana, son, William L. (Cheryl) Bowers of Monroeville, Indiana, son, Thomas J. (Pat) Bowers of Monroeville, Indiana, daughter, Nancy A. Drewes of Anna, Ohio, daughter, Mrs. Steve (Marcia M.) Pyle of Kendallville, Indiana, daughter, Noreen E. Hilliard of Monroeville, Indiana, son, John C. (Anita) Bowers of Monroeville, Indiana, twenty-three grandchildren, and twenty-three great-grandchildren. Preceding Marie in death were one son, Jerome E. Bowers, who was killed in Viet Nam in 1969; one daughter, Brenda L. Hanchar in 2003; two brothers, Robert M. Herber and Ambrose Herber; two sisters, Blanche J. Herber in 1981 and Sister Mary Evangelista S.P. ini 2006. Prayer Services will be held at 9:20 .m. Monday, September 17, 2007 in the Zwick and Jahn Funeral Home, Jacobs Chapel, Monroeville, Indiana followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 a.m. Monday, September 17, 2007 in the St. Louis Besancon Catholic Church, New Haven, Indiana with Father Stephen Colchin officiating. Interment will follow in the St. Louis Catholic Cemetery - Besancon, New Haven, Indiana. Friends will be received from 12:00 NOON - 4:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. - 8:00 p.m. Sunday, September 16, 2007 in the Zwick and Jahn Funeral Home, Jacobs Chapel in Monroeville, Indiana. A Rosary Service will be recited at 8:00 p.m. Sunday in the funeral home. Preferred memorials are Masses to the church; St. Louis Academy; St. Mary of the Woods.
