Lewis R. Bertsch, 84 years old of Decatur, Indiana, passed away on Friday, June 15, 2007 in the Lutheran Hospital located in Fort Wayne, Indiana. He was born on Tuesday, November 14, 1922 in Adams County, Indiana the son of the late Cornelius Bertsch and the late Emma (Steffen) Bertsch. He married Virginia M. Fritzinger on September 8, 1945 in Adams County, Indiana. Lewis served in Italy during W. W. II in the United States Army. He attended the Apostolic Christian Church East and loved to collect antique cars. He retired in 1984 with 42 years of service from the elevator department at Central Soya in Decatur. Surviving are his wife, Virginia May Bertsch of Decatur, Indiana, son, Rick (Kris) Bertsch of Davis, California, son, Ron (Shaun) Bertsch of Decatur, Indiana, son, Randy Bertsch of Decatur, Indiana, sister, Mrs. Carroll (Louise) Gerber of Bluffton, Indiana, sister, Betty Steffen of Bluffton, Indiana, granddaughter, Celeste Parquette of Sumter, South Carolina, grandson, Jeremy A. Bertsch of Decatur, Indiana, granddaughter, Sarah E. Bertsch of Decatur, Indiana, and granddaughter, Tara Bertsch of Davis, California. Preceding Lewis in death were one son, Richard Eugene Bertsch and two brothers, Robert & Arthur Bertsch. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Thursday, June 21, 2007 in the Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home. Interment will follow in the Apostolic Christian Cemetery, Bluffton, Indiana. Friends will be received from 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m Wednesday, June 20 in the Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home, Decatur and one hour prior to the service on Thursday in the funeral home. Preferred memorials are to donor's choice.
