Wayne C. McDonald, 90 years old of Decatur, Indiana, and a former resident of Lake Wawasee and Sarasota, Florida, passed away on Saturday, January 21, 2006 in Swiss Village, Berne, Indiana. He was born on Sunday, August 8, 1915 in Owatonna, Minnesota the son of the late Victor E. McDonald and the late Georgia M. (Carter) McDonald-Mougeotte. He married Helen M. Durnbaugh on April 28, 1942 in St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Lagro, Indiana. Helen died October 12, 2005. Wayne was a member of St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church, Decatur. He was founder & President of Com-Tel Construction Incorporated from 1964 to 1980 and was a former flight instructor and commercial pilot in the Fort Wayne area. Surviving are his son, James W. (Gini) McDonald of Decatur, Indiana, daughter, Michelle Scherer of Williamsburg, Virginia, ten grandchildren and step-grandchildren: Todd (Becky) McDonald, Amy Slusher, Cathy (Jonathan) Zwick, Jennifer Scherer, Justin Scherer, Roger (Athena) Roe, Robin (Jason) James, Shaun Roe, Shane (Stefanie) Roe, & Deatra Simonson, and eighteen great grandchildren and step great-grandchildren, Shelby McDonald, Nicholas McDonald, Cathy Slusher, Ryne Slusher, Christian Zwick, Laurel Zwick, Kirsten Roe, Tiffany Roe, Jeremy Roe, Ethan Roe, Dylan James, Katelyn Roe, Lance Roe, Kalisha Roe, Alexa Grace Roe, Tyler Simonson, Spencer Simonson and MaKenzie Simonson. Preceding Wayne in death were his step-father, Joe Mougeotte, who raised him; a sister, Olga Barnes and a great-grandson, Isaac Samuel Zwick. A Prayer Service will be held at 9:40 a.m. Wednesday, January 25, 2006 in the Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home followed by a Mass of Christian burial in the St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church with Father Dave Voors officiating. Interment will follow in the St. Joseph Catholic Cemetery. Friends will be received from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Tuesday, January 24 in the Zwick & Jahn Funeral Home, Decatur, Indiana. A Rosary service will be held at 5:30 p.m. Tuesday prior to the visitation at the funeral home. Preferred memorials are to Building on Our Heritage Fund thru St. Mary of the Assumption Catholic Church or the Donor's Choice.
